Hegel C55 – 5-channel power amplifier (5 x 150 W at 8 Ohm) from the Custom line. Up to five channels of 150-watt analog amplification (per channel), which is sufficient for practically any existing speakers. The ability to switch the phase individually for each channel or choose between different gain coefficients for each channel makes the amplifier very easy to integrate into large systems.
Features:
- 5-channel power amplifier (5 x 150 W at 8 Ohm);
- Minimum impedance: 2 Ohm;
- Signal-to-noise ratio: 100 dB;
- Frequency range: 5 - 100000 Hz;
- Support for SoundEngine 2 technology.
The design features the patented SoundEngine 2 technology, which offers a multitude of advantages. One of them is the use of low idle current, which means that the powerful A/B class amplifier does not heat up like a typical one, allowing it to be installed in a 19-inch rack.
Another advantage of SoundEngine 2 is its very high damping factor (over 2000). The higher this factor, the deeper the bass and better control over the low-frequency drivers the amplifier can provide. This is one of the reasons why Hegel amplifiers are said to have dynamic sound. An even more important factor is the low level of distortion. Hegel SoundEngine 2 technology works almost like noise-canceling headphones. All distortion elements created in the amplification circuits are dynamically suppressed by an identical signal in antiphase. So, no matter how you configure your amplifier, it will always provide you with an outstanding soundstage with incredible dynamics.
The trigger input and output (allowing for creating a chain) provide the possibility of placement in a separate room, without the need to worry about separate on/off switching. The amplifier has a height of 132 mm, and massive mounting "ears" are integrated into the housing. When installing in a rack, we recommend leaving space above and below. Detachable and adjustable "ears" are also provided on the rear panel.
