The Genelec 8340A is an active portable two-way nearfield monitor designed for use in small stationary and mobile studios, post-production studios, streaming, and personal monitoring systems. The cabinet is made of specially shaped cast aluminum using the MDE (Minimum Diffraction Enclosure) technology.

The 8340A features a 6.5" woofer with a cone and a 0.75" tweeter with a metal dome. Both drivers are magnetically shielded to provide a flat frequency response and wide sound dispersion. The monitor incorporates modern proprietary technologies such as Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW) for adjusting the waveguide configuration to the amplifiers. The rear panel includes a specially designed round port to enhance the lower frequency range.
Equipped with a bi-amp configuration, the 8340A separates and amplifies the low, mid, and high frequencies independently. The monitor also includes an active crossover with a frequency separation at 2.6 kHz. The total amplifier power is 300W (150+150). Analog input on an XLR connector is located on the rear panel, along with digital inputs and outputs on AES/EBU. The system includes the advanced Smart Active Monitoring (SAM) technology for adaptive monitoring.
The Genelec Loudspeaker Manager 2.0 (GLM) software allows precise individual calibration of up to 30 intelligent monitors and smart subwoofers for multi-channel setup. The AutoCal application compensates for room effects and helps calibrate settings for your specific listening environment, whether in stereo or surround. Additionally, the Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS) technology provides a standby mode with a switch that instantly turns on the device, consuming less than 0.5W of energy in standby mode.
