Studio Monitor Genelec 8330A
The Genelec 8330A is an active portable two-way near-field monitor designed for use in small stationary and mobile studios, post-production studios, streaming, and personal monitoring systems. The cabinet is made of cast aluminum using the MDE (Minimum Diffraction Enclosure) technology, making it comparable in weight to competitors made of MDF and composite materials. The monitor offers a range of modern proprietary technologies. For example, the DCW (Directivity Control Waveguide) adjusts the waveguide configuration to the amplifiers. The proprietary Iso-Pod stand is designed to minimize vibrations and deliver the cleanest sound to the listener.
The Genelec 8330A features a 5" bass driver with a cone and a 0.75" metal dome tweeter. They provide a flat frequency response and wide sound dispersion. The round bass reflex port on the rear panel ensures a more saturated lower frequency range. The drivers have neodymium magnets to minimize interference with surrounding equipment and protect against overheating. The cabinet features driver magnetic shielding to prevent negative signal influence and comes in gray or white.
One of the main features of the Genelec 8330A monitor is its bi-amp amplification scheme: the signal is separately amplified for low and mid frequencies, as well as for high frequencies. The monitor also includes an active crossover with a split frequency of 2.9 kHz. The total power of the amplifiers is 100W (50+50). The analog input on an XLR connector is located on the rear panel, along with digital input and output on AES/EBU. The system includes the most advanced Smart Active Monitoring (SAM) technology. The Genelec Loudspeaker Manager 2.0 (GLM) software allows fine individual tuning of up to 30 intelligent monitors and a smart subwoofer for multi-channel configuration. There is also a standby mode with a switch: Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS) technology helps track signals and instantly turn on the device, consuming less than 0.5W of energy in sleep mode.
