Studio monitor Genelec 8320A
Genelec 8320A is an active portable near-field two-way monitor designed for use in small stationary and mobile studios, post-production studios, streaming listening, and as a personal monitoring system. The cabinet is made of cast aluminum in a special shape using MDE technology (Minimum Diffraction Enclosure), yet it weighs comparable to competitors made of MDF and composite materials. The monitor offers a variety of modern proprietary technologies such as DCW (Directivity Control Waveguide) for adjusting the waveguide configuration to the amplifiers. The proprietary Iso-Pod stand is designed to reduce vibrations and deliver the cleanest sound to the listener.
Genelec 8320A features a 4" cone woofer and a 0.75" metal dome tweeter, providing a flat frequency response and wide sound dispersion. The rear panel features a round bass reflex port, allowing for a more saturated lower frequency range. The drivers have neodymium magnets for minimal interference with surrounding equipment, as well as protection against overheating. The cabinet features magnetic shielding of the drivers to prevent signal interference and can be finished in gray or white.
One of the main features of the Genelec 8320A monitor is the bi-amp configuration, with separate amplification for low and mid-range signals and high frequencies. The cabinet also includes an active crossover with a separation frequency of 2.9 kHz. The total amplifier power is 100W (50+50). Analog input on an XLR connector is located on the rear panel, along with digital input and output on AES/EBU. The system includes the most advanced Smart Active Monitoring (SAM) technology. Genelec Loudspeaker Manager 2.0 (GLM) software allows for precise individual tuning of up to 30 smart monitors and subwoofers to facilitate multi-channel setups. There is also a standby mode with a switch: ISS (Intelligent Signal Sensing) technology helps monitor the signal and instantly power on the device, consuming less than 0.5W of energy when in sleep mode.
