It consists of a 6.5" woofer with a cone and a 0.75" tweeter with a metal dome, providing a flat frequency response and a wide sound dispersion angle. Both drivers have neodymium magnets, which minimize their impact on surrounding equipment and provide protection against overheating. The rear panel of the speaker features a bass reflex port, enhancing the lower frequency range.
Genelec 8040B utilizes a bi-amp configuration, separately amplifying the signal for low and mid frequencies, as well as for high frequencies. The speaker also includes an active crossover with a 3 kHz frequency split. The total power of the amplifiers is 180W (90+90).
The only input is available on an XLR connector at the rear panel, along with switches for bass/treble attenuation and mid-frequency adjustment. There is also an automatic standby mode: the ISS (Intelligent Signal Sensing) technology tracks the signal and instantly activates the device.
This nearfield monitor is an excellent professional tool for various studio applications. It is also suitable for musicians who need compact yet powerful personal monitoring and home theater systems.
