Genelec 8030C – an active two-way nearfield monitor intended for use in small stationary and mobile studios, for broadcast, post-production studios, and permanent installations with wall mounting. It can also be used for personal monitoring and as part of a home theater system.

The Genelec 8030C features a number of proprietary technologies. Firstly, the Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE): the cabinet is made of a specially shaped cast aluminum, weighing around 5 kg. Another technology, Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW), adjusts the waveguide configuration to the amplifiers. It also has an automatic standby mode with a switch: Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS) technology helps monitor the signal and instantly power the device, consuming less than 0.5 W in standby mode. Finally, the specially designed Iso-Pod stand is intended to reduce vibrations and transmit the cleanest sound possible.
One of the main features of the Genelec 8030C monitor includes the dual amplification scheme (bi-amp): signals for low and mid ranges are separately amplified from those for high frequencies. The cabinet also contains an active crossover with a split frequency at 3 kHz. The total power of the amplifiers is 100 W (50+50).
The Genelec 8030C cabinet houses a 5-inch woofer and a 0.75-inch tweeter with a metal dome, providing a flat frequency response and a wide sound dispersion angle. Both drivers have neodymium magnets to minimize interference with surrounding equipment and protection against overheating. A rear-facing bass reflex port is located on the back panel of the speaker, providing a more saturated lower frequency range. The cabinet is magnetically shielded to prevent signal interference. The only input on the XLR connector is located on the back panel, where you can also find DIP switches for built-in low/high-frequency attenuators and filters.
