The speaker features a 27mm IAL3 tweeter with a rigid and ultra-light inverted beryllium dome. Utilizing the Infinite Horn Loading (IHL) and Infinite Acoustic Loading (IAL) technologies, this tweeter utilizes a special rear chamber that absorbs sound waves emitted by the backside of its membrane. By eliminating reflections, reducing back pressure to zero, lowering the resonance frequency, and minimizing distortion, the result is a precise and detailed sound.
On either side of the tweeter are 165mm midrange/woofer drivers with sandwich cone membranes. The central layer of the membranes is made of lightweight flax fibers and reinforced on both sides with thin layers of glass fiber. This design provides excellent internal damping, low weight, and superior stiffness. The drivers use NIC technology to eliminate the negative effects of eddy currents and stabilize the magnetic field surrounding the voice coil. The TMD technology is applied to the driver surrounds - special ring thickening acts as vibration dampeners, effectively damping the driver mass. This eliminates parasitic resonances that occur during driver diaphragm movement.
The acoustically inert Focal Kanta Center cabinet is made of a special molded plywood, with a thick front panel cast from high-density polymer HDP, which surpasses standard MDF boards in density and stiffness. Integrated into the rear of the speaker are two screw terminals and a ported phase inverter, allowing for dynamic compression elimination. The top panel of the cabinet is finished with glass, and each midrange/woofer driver has a separate grille with a magnetic attachment.
The speaker is available in various finishes, including veneer or piano lacquer, with options for front panel colors such as blue or yellow. According to the French company's data, the Focal Kanta Center speaker has the right tonal balance and excellent resolution, guaranteeing purity, naturalness, and intelligibility in speech reproduction. The speaker harmonizes well with Sub 1000F subwoofers and built-in ceiling speakers like the 300 ICW 4 for working with Dolby Atmos, DTS X, and Auro-3D formats. A special stand is available as an option for this model.
