Balanced Highs and Dynamic Bass
Dynamic Bass with Spaciousness.Traditional planar magnetic drivers struggle with low frequencies due to their diaphragm coming into contact with the magnet when amplitude increases. To address this, the driver unit needs to raise the low-frequency range it can reproduce. To compensate for the low bass, the ear pads are sealed, creating a closed space in front of the diaphragm. This approach mirrors how some small in-ear monitors manage to deliver deep bass despite their size. With the D8000, the AFDS resolves the issue of diaphragm contact with the magnet, allowing for lower frequency reproduction. Combined with breathable ear pads, this allows the D8000 to deliver deep, dynamic bass that was previously exclusive to dynamic drivers.
Delicate High Frequencies
For accurate reproduction of delicate high frequencies, a lightweight diaphragm is essential. The D8000 features a diaphragm that is about one-third the weight of comparable dynamic drivers. The ultra-light film diaphragm, with its etched ultra-thin aluminum foil coil, eliminates the need for adhesives between the coil and diaphragm, which can negatively impact sound quality. By solving this issue fundamentally, the D8000 achieves exceptional high-frequency clarity.

Newly Developed AFDS (Air Film Damping System)
Previous planar magnetic driver units faced issues with diaphragm contact at lower frequencies due to increased amplitude. To overcome this, simulations using finite element analysis and measurements with laser Doppler vibrometers were employed to establish the AFDS. This breakthrough technology enhances low-frequency reproduction, marking a significant advancement in planar magnetic technology. The D8000 benefits from this system, enabling lower frequency response and a fuller, more dynamic bass experience.
Design for Longevity
The D8000 is designed with long-term use in mind. Almost all parts are screw-mounted, facilitating easy repairs and future upgrades.
Precision-Crafted Aluminum and Magnesium Alloy Enclosure
To meet the high precision required for AFDS, the enclosure is machined from aluminum-magnesium alloy with meticulous accuracy. The black finish uses high-grade leather paint, while the silver model features a hard-anodized coating.
In-House Precision Manufacturing
Produced in Kawasaki, Japan, the D8000 benefits from in-house manufacturing and precision tooling, ensuring high-quality assembly. Special equipment and measuring tools, such as diaphragm molding machines and tension meters, are developed internally to maintain exceptional quality from component creation to final assembly.

New Open-Type Ear Pads
Unlike traditional closed or open headphones, the D8000’s ear pads are designed for low sealing and high breathability, which allows the driver unit to reproduce deep bass naturally without excessive sealing. This new ear pad design, made from advanced foam and special fibers, is exclusive to the D8000.
