Description

This player has made it to the TOP of the best Hi-Fi players of 2021 according to Dr.Head!

M15 is a new outstanding flagship portable Hi-Fi music player and the latest masterpiece from the FiiO development team. The design of the M15 is inspired by the grandeur of classical western architecture. The M15 has powerful features and provides maximum performance, and thanks to its thoughtful design, the player has excellent ergonomics.

FiiO M15 is equipped with high-quality components, such as a pair of flagship AK4499EQ third-generation DAC chips. Each AK4499 DAC has four channels and impressive specifications: the chip can decode PCM audio with a sampling frequency of up to 768kHz and has native support for DSD512. The signal-to-noise ratio reaches an impressive 140dB, and THD+N (total harmonic distortion plus noise) is reduced to -124dB.

In USB DAC mode, the M15 uses a professional-level USB chip XMOS XUF208 (supporting 768kHz/32bit and DSD512). The flagship CSR8675 chip from Qualcomm is used for Bluetooth reception, which reduces latency and increases transmission speed. Supported Bluetooth transfer formats include SBC, aptX, aptX-HD, LDAC, and HWA.

FiiO M15 comes with a powerful lithium cobalt oxide battery (7490mAh), supporting fast charging with QC2.0, MTK PE, and USB PD, providing up to 15 hours of standalone playback or up to 1800 hours in standby mode.

The player is equipped with two custom Japanese femtosecond crystals from NDK, which have reduced phase noise to -140dBc/Hz at a 1kHz offset. These crystals work in conjunction with FiiO's third-generation FPGA (field-programmable gate array) with more advanced algorithms, precise clocks, and even further jitter reduction for the DAC.

The M15 uses a fully balanced architecture to deliver every detail to the listener without compromising excellent dynamics. Inside this balanced architecture are 2 new precision low-noise operational amplifiers TI OPA2211 for low-pass filter, 4 OPA1612 for IV conversion, and 1 OPA1622 for amplification in each channel.

Features include ultra-low-noise resistors, high-precision 0.1% resistors with low-temperature drift, low-noise film resistors. Dedicated audio capacitors include 4 polymer tantalum capacitors with low loss, 4 non-electrolytic film capacitors from Panasonic, and 8 small film capacitors. The player also has sufficient power reserves with 28 low-loss polymer capacitors of 220uF and 5 high-voltage capacitors of 100uF. An impressive LPF (low-pass filter) configuration consists of 8 independent 4-pole metallized film capacitors from Panasonic.

The 8-layer super-strong immersion gold printed circuit board significantly improves space utilization and ensures no interference between digital and analog circuits. Independent shielding for digital and analog circuits, along with special absorbing materials for enhanced shielding against interference, has been used. Additionally, a specially designed material is used to absorb 2.4GHz waves. Custom thermal conductive radiators made of silicone, graphene, and copper-nickel-zinc alloy effectively dissipate excess heat.

The huge output power of the FiiO M15 is comparable to desktop amplifiers:

  • At 32 ohms: 490mW for unbalanced connection or up to 800mW for balanced connection.
  • At 300 ohms: 70mW for standard or up to 275mW for balanced connection.

An analog potentiometer is used for volume control. The volume control algorithm employed in the M15 solves the issue traditionally associated with analog potentiometers - volume imbalance between the left and right channels. In addition, the brightness of the pulsating backlight can also be controlled with the volume knob, making each turn of the knob a visual and auditory delight.

The new player features a frameless 5.15-inch screen with an 18:9 aspect ratio, Gorilla Glass, and a resolution of 1440x720. The back panel is made of carbon fiber with a PET coating.

In addition to the volume potentiometer, there are 3 headphone outputs on the top panel: 2.5mm / 3.5mm / 4.4mm.

Physical buttons are located on the left side and are supplemented by a multifunction programmable key.

The player supports various formats and features the 2nd generation All to DSD function, 8x MQA decoding, DLNA technology, AirPlay, Wi-Fi, and FiiO Link (control the player with a smartphone).

The exceptional device comes in outstanding packaging. The player is supplied in a box made of North American black walnut wood.
