The Marshall Mathers LP is the third studio album by Eminem, released on May 23, 2000, by Aftermath Entertainment and Interscope Records. The album was produced primarily by Dr. Dre and Eminem, with additional production by 45 King, the Bass Brothers, and Mel-Man.
Recorded over two months in several Detroit studios, the album features introspective lyrics, including Eminem's thoughts on his rags-to-riches journey, criticism of his music, and his estrangement from his family and wife. The transgressive work combines horrorcore and hardcore hip-hop, as well as satirical lyrics. Guest appearances on the album include Dido, RBX, Sticky Fingaz, Bizarre, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Xzibit, Nate Dogg, and D12.
