Canton Reference 2 enclosures are designed according to the latest acoustic findings, free of facets. Their elegant form follows function, resulting in a speaker with remarkable performance: in addition to its modern design, it is extremely stable and provides an excellent basis for optimum sound radiation. The build quality of the cabinets is top-notch, allowing them to fit aesthetically into any living space. The four drivers operate in a 3-chamber system, providing perfectly matched volumes for each branch of the 3-way speaker system.
The dual-bass configuration with 219mm woofers, combined with the optimized dispersion coefficient of the latest generation bass horn, delivers tremendous low bass while allowing for flexible placement of the Reference 2 in the listening room. The 174mm diameter midrange driver, deliberately positioned at the top of the speaker, ensures faithful and lively reproduction of voices. Visually and acoustically, a powerful tweeter with a 25mm aluminum oxide black ceramic dome tweeter is the perfect complement.
In the Reference 2 loudspeakers, all drivers are integrated flush into the round baffle using the new three-dimensional ASW (Asymetric Waveguide Ring) made of polyoxymethylene (POM). They optimize dispersion characteristics in the high-frequency and mid-frequency ranges. Enclosure design is focused on sound optimization and uses a durable multi-layer laminate and sophisticated damping and internal stiffeners to create low resonance enclosures.
New crossovers with epoxy resin-glass cloth composite and 70 µm thick copper overlay allow the use of large cross sections of dim-ionized conductors. The placement of the components on the crossover minimizes magnetic field interference. This precise design and the use of high quality components ensure optimum performance and accurate sound.
Reference 2 loudspeakers are manufactured with the utmost care and precision in Germany, at the company's headquarters in Weilrode. By using first-class materials and components, consistent and precise quality is guaranteed. Reference 2 speakers are available in three exquisite finishes that emphasize the high standards of the Reference series. The high-quality walnut veneer is treated with a special sanding technique and a matte lacquer, resulting in a delightful, finely porous surface.
