The VM520EB is equipped with an elliptical diamond stylus mounted on an aluminum cantilever. The stylus' small contact area ensures good tracking ability and detailed sound reproduction. The lightweight and durable holder accurately transfers the stylus movements along the record groove to the magnetic system, while protecting it from parasitic vibrations caused by resonances.
One notable feature of this model is its relatively high output voltage of 4.5 mV at a frequency of 1 kHz. This ensures good compatibility with various phono preamps, including entry-level models, as well as with built-in phono preamps in affordable integrated amplifiers and AV receivers. The VM520EB's efficiency is enhanced by the use of two magnets, each working on its own stereo channel, as well as by the para-toroidal coil winding.
Great attention has been paid in the design of the VM520EB to improve channel separation, resulting in increased accuracy and musicality of the soundstage. An internal shielding partition separates the left and right channel sections, enhancing the overall rigidity of the cartridge. The cartridge features a rotating protective cover to prevent accidental damage to the stylus. Mounting hardware for installation on a tonearm holder is included with the VM520EB.
