The Audio-Technica VM740ML cartridge is the youngest model in the prestigious 700 series of MM cartridges from Audio-Technica. One of its main features is the use of two moving magnets arranged in a "V" shape in the design. This design achieves excellent channel separation, raises the upper limit of the frequency range, and ensures precise tracking. The output voltage of this cartridge is 4 mV.

The Audio-Technica VM740ML features proprietary pair of toroidal coils with a closed core, which enhance the efficiency of the entire transducer and guarantee excellent linearity as the magnetic flux leakage in such a continuous magnetic circuit is minimal. A special shielding permalloy plate is placed between the coils to reduce their mutual influence, effectively suppressing cross-channel electrical interference and contributing to improved channel separation. The conductors for winding the coils are made of high-purity oxygen-free copper, which also helps to enhance sound quality.
The needle has a MicroLine profile and can accurately track the record groove, resulting in a cleaner, finer, and more nuanced presentation of musical material compared to elliptical or conical needles, for example. This profile is highly resistant to wear and causes less wear on the vinyl record. The needle is attached to a lightweight conical aluminum holder that helps ensure accurate information retrieval.
The cast golden body of the Audio-Technica VM740ML looks noble and uses aluminum alloy as the material, allowing it to effectively combat vibrations and serve as a natural shield against interference and noise. The model comes with a quick-change plastic block with a needle, holder, and protector.
