The Audio-Technica VM670SP cartridge is designed to play monophonic records at 78 revolutions per minute. For optimal performance in this mode, the VM670SP cartridge has a modified body and internal wiring compared to stereophonic models, as well as a specially sharpened conical stylus. This ensures stable and accurate tracking of the record track at higher disk rotation speeds, as well as increases the durability of the stylus.
Features:
- Monophonic cartridge;
- Conical stylus for old 78 RPM records;
- Proprietary dual-magnet system.
Like all VM series models, the VM670SP cartridge is equipped with two magnets to improve channel separation and signal conversion efficiency. In the case of a monophonic cartridge, this also reduces the noise level of retro records and ensures proper center positioning of the soundstage between two stereo speakers. The conical stylus radius on the VM670SP is increased to 0.076mm (76μm), which is optimal for accurate playback of almost all 78 RPM records regardless of the release year. The stylus is mounted in a lightweight and rigid aluminum holder. The para-toroidal coil winding allows for a high signal level at the cartridge output, resulting in rich and dynamic music playback even when connecting the vinyl player to an inexpensive integrated amplifier with a built-in phono preamp. The cartridge body is made of polymer material and effectively dampens any parasitic resonances due to its light weight. For optimal compatibility with modern tonearms, the cartridge has a standard four-pin connection.
The VM670SP cartridge comes with a swivel needle guard that cannot be accidentally lost unlike a removable one. The needle block in this model is replaceable, which simplifies player maintenance. The VM670SP comes with all the necessary mounting screws for installation on a tonearm, and due to its standard technical characteristics, it is compatible with most popular turntable models.
