The Audio-Technica VM610MONO phono cartridge is specially designed for accurate playback of monophonic records found in the collections of many audiophiles. This cartridge is based on the same technologies as other models in the VM series, equipped with two magnets. However, their arrangement is chosen to create a focused soundstage in the central part, which regular stereo cartridges are usually unable to provide when playing monophonic records. The VM610MONO phono cartridge features a conical stylus with a small radius that accurately tracks even the smallest vibrations of the record groove. As in other cartridges in this series, the stylus is mounted on an aluminum holder of low mass. To improve the efficiency of the electromagnetic system in the VM610MONO and ensure the maximum output signal level, the coils in the cartridge have a para toroidal winding. The cartridge body is made of polymer material and has a low mass, making this model compatible with most standard tonearms. The lower section of the cartridge is colored blue, and the stylus is protected by a rotating transparent cover.
For easier connection to tonearms designed for stereo phono cartridges, the VM610MONO has four contacts on the backside, but it still provides a mono signal. This ensures optimal sound in systems where the amplifiers do not have mono/stereo mode switches. The VM610MONO comes with all necessary mounting hardware - two pairs of screws of different lengths, as well as nuts and washers.
