The Audio-Technica VM520EB cartridge is an improved version of the basic model, in which the quality of sound has been enhanced through further refinement of the design. The VM520EB is equipped with an elliptical diamond stylus mounted on an aluminum cantilever. The small contact area of the stylus ensures good tracking performance and detailed sound. The lightweight and durable holder accurately transmits the stylus movements along the vinyl groove to the magnetic system while protecting it from parasitic vibrations caused by resonances. One of the features of this model is its relatively high output voltage of 4.5 mV at a frequency of 1 kHz. This provides good compatibility with various phono preamps, including entry-level ones, as well as those built into inexpensive integrated amplifiers and AV receivers. The efficiency of the VM520EB cartridge was achieved by using two magnets, each of which "works" on its stereo channel, as well as by using a para-toroidal coil winding.
Attention was given to improving channel separation in the design of the VM520EB, which has led to increased accuracy and musicality of the soundstage. To achieve this, an insulating barrier was installed inside the cartridge to separate the left and right channel sections, which also increases the overall rigidity of its construction. The cartridge includes a swiveling protective cover to prevent accidental needle damage. The VM520EB comes with mounting hardware necessary for installation on a tonearm.
