Antelope Audio Discrete 8 Pro Synergy Core is a new modification of the high-quality Discrete 8 audio interface with two DSP processors featuring FPGA architecture. Maintaining its key and flagship qualities in the segment of external sound interfaces for small recording studios, the company is raising the bar even higher and reaching a new level of sound processing available to a wide range of users.
Features:
- Premier Synergy Core FX effects processing;
- ADC / DAC with a level reserve of up to 130 dB;
- Recording, mixing, and playback at speeds up to 24-bit / 192 kHz;
- Patented 64-bit AFC (Acoustically Focused Clocking) technology;
- 36 real-time audio effects + additional add-ons;
- 8 console-grade Class A mic preamps with discrete transistor design;
- Intuitive control panel software.
Synergy Core Technology
The key innovation of the new Discrete 8 Pro model lies in its name - Synergy Core. This technology combines a standard DSP processor with proprietary FPGA-based chips for effect processing in your digital workstation. This combination allows for offloading your computer's processor, leaving all effects processing operations to the Synergy Core system. This increases the stability of your digital audio workstation and the efficiency of your computer's processing power available for your projects, while also reducing latency.
With the Synergy Core technology, you gain access to a library of 36 studio effects meticulously modeled after original hardware, allowing you to add and monitor them in real-time with minimal latency. Alongside the Accusonic 3D modeling technology, working in conjunction with 18 high-precision emulations of various professional studio microphones, you can fully unleash the potential of Antelope's Edge and Verge microphones.
Preamps, Converters, and Connectors
Speaking of the Discrete 8, it's important to note the presence of eight discrete Class A console-grade mic preamps. Paired with some of the best-in-class ADC / DAC converters with a dynamic range of 121 dB and a sampling frequency of up to 192 kHz.
2 combo XLR/TRS inputs for microphones are located on the front panel, while 6 more are on the back. Additionally, the USB/Thunderbolt interface of the Discrete 8 includes: 2 headphone outputs, 2 ReAmp outputs, 2 monitor outputs (L+R), 3 outputs and one input for World Clock synchronization, 2 ADAT inputs and outputs, S/PDIF input/output, DB25 output, and a footswitch input.
Clocking
Antelope Audio initially built its successful company on creating proprietary Master Clocks for precise audio stream synchronization. The Discrete 4 Pro continues this tradition with a 64-bit proprietary 4th-generation AFC Master Clock, featured in the higher-end models of the company. Two World Clock outputs allow for distributing and synchronizing signals between multiple digital devices.
Plugins
The AFX2DAW plugin library stands out not only for its high-quality emulation and response but also for its variety. You'll have access to various models of studio preamps, equalizers, compressors, effects, guitar amps, and cabinets. Additionally, the catalog of proprietary plugins includes models of different microphones, the settings of which can significantly expand the capabilities of connected analog devices. The ideal pair for this software is the Antelope Audio Edge and Antelope Audio Verge studio mic emulations.
Interface
The Antelope Audio Discrete 8 Pro features a rich and user-friendly EasyPanel software interface for desktop, supported on both Windows and OS X. Additionally, developers provide the option for remote control of the audio interface through a special app available for Android and iOS, making monitoring parameter control from your mobile devices even more convenient and easy.
