The AlphaTheta CDJ-3000X is a modernized version of the flagship Pioneer CDJ-3000 media player. This device can be used as a media player and as a controller for Rekordbox and Serato DJ Pro. The layout of the AlphaTheta CDJ-3000X deck may seem familiar, as there are few visual differences compared to the Pioneer CDJ-3000.
Equipped with standard control elements such as backlit play/cue and loop buttons, eight multi-colored hot cue buttons, and a pitch fader with a 10% range, they are complemented by a playback direction control lever and quantize and slip buttons. The 206mm jog wheel with built-in display and beat matching function control button remains unchanged.
The innovations of the deck are mainly hidden: the jog resistance range can now be adjusted even more precisely, and the play/cue buttons reportedly have a longer service life. The most noticeable change is the new 10.1-inch touch screen. It has replaced the 9-inch screen of the previous version and is set at a slight angle. The increased surface allows for displaying more information about the library and mix, such as more detailed waveforms or additional playlist information.
The touch screen instantly responds to touches and, in addition to displaying information, is used for player adjustments. The player is equipped with analog and digital audio outputs, as well as a modern USB-C port for connecting to a computer.
A reliable Ethernet interface allows for setting up a Pro DJ Link network for data exchange with other AlphaTheta/Pioneer DJ devices. A new feature has appeared on the device's top panel: in addition to the familiar USB-A slot, there is now a USB-C port for mobile storage devices, replacing the previously installed SD card slot. Another new feature is the built-in Wi-Fi interface.
Through a router, it provides wireless access to cloud storage and streaming services. Additionally, the NFC function, which when used with a smartphone provides convenient access to online services, allows for using NFC for access to them. AlphaTheta has also equipped the CDJ-3000X with a new ESS DAC.
