Ruark

Ruark is a family-owned company located on the southeast coast of England. It is a small team of designers and engineers with extensive experience gained within the British audio industry. Brian O’Rourke founded Ruark with his son, Alan. At that point, they already had the skills which, when combined, gave them every chance of success in creating music systems. The father had learned woodworking while working with furniture, and the son gained engineering and production skills working at Ford Motors.

The company's main mission is to create a product that appeals to both the head and the heart. A product that they can truly be proud of. The focus is on sound quality and functionality — Ruark aims to be a leader in its class, and this statement holds true for every device released under its label.

A lot of attention is also paid to design, and here, Ruark is ahead of the curve. With clean lines and proportions, select materials, and its proprietary RotoDial control system, Ruark doesn't follow trends—it sets the standards for future design.

This combination of internal substance and external appeal has not gone unnoticed by both sound enthusiasts and critics. For instance, the Sunday Telegraph memorably called the first generation of the R1 model "the Aston Martin of DAB radios". And after its grand renovation in 2010, The Savoy Hotel, a luxurious London landmark, chose Ruark specifically for the audio (and visual) setup in its rooms.
