The NS-B700 is a two-way passive Hi-Fi speaker designed for use with home music centers or cinemas. It is equipped with a pair of high-quality speakers - a 4“ (10 cm) bass driver and a 1.1” (3 cm) tweeter, which sound great in the range from 65 to 50000 Hz. At the same time, the sensitivity of the audio input is - 86 dB or 2.83 mW.
The NS-B700 also features a passive crossover with a fixed cutoff frequency of 5kHz, which properly distributes the incoming frequency spectrum across the drivers and allows this speaker system to perfectly reproduce both electronic and instrumental music, as well as vocals and speech. For connectivity, two banana-type terminals are brought out on the back of the cabinet to securely fix the cable cores. The speaker supports standard classical connection via a two-core cable and delivers a rated power of 30 watts at 6 ohms. The peak load can be up to 120W.
The NS-700 loudspeakers deliver a sound that is so dynamic and vibrant, it feels alive. One of the main reasons for this is the non-parallel cabinet design. In creating them, Yamaha's design team sought to maximize sound clarity while minimizing internal standing waves. They succeeded with a rounded top panel that helps reduce vertical standing waves, and a trapezoidal shape that serves to reduce horizontal ones. The result is a very natural, expansive sound that makes the NS-700 speakers great for multichannel music of any genre, as well as for home theater.
Yamaha's exclusive A-PMD (Advanced Polymer diaphragm diaphragm) cones are extremely light, stiff and durable by using a low specific gravity material called PMP (Poly-Methyl-Pentene), which is much lighter than polypropylene. It provides very fast response times (rise and fall of sound) as well as excellent midrange clarity and low frequency response. Outstanding internal loss characteristics reduce unwanted resonances to achieve a smooth frequency response, resulting in natural sounding vocals.
The high performance tweeter has an aluminum dome with a Yamaha DC diaphragm with diaphragm and voice coil built in. It is extremely lightweight yet durable and delivers a large amount of sound information (highly detailed sound) for a tighter sound field. As a result, this tweeter delivers crisp highs at all power levels.
