The Yamaha NS-5000 features a three-way configuration and in terms of sound quality and thoughtful design can be considered a top system within this class of speakers. This model resembles the famous NS-1000M speakers (released by Yamaha in 1974), but actually has a completely updated design.
The speaker diaphragms in the Yamaha NS-5000 are made from patented synthetic fiber ZYLON, created in Japan and recognized as the strongest in the world. The membrane is additionally coated with a special alloy Monel. In terms of weight and stiffness, the diaphragms of these drivers surpass even those made with beryllium, resulting in exceptionally transparent and fast music reproduction from the NS-5000.
The midrange and tweeter drivers in the NS-5000 are placed in acoustic chambers RS to suppress unwanted resonances. These chambers have a precisely calculated shape patented by Yamaha. As a result, the sound in the mid and high frequencies is maximally natural and balanced. Furthermore, the need for a large amount of sound absorber inside the speaker enclosure has been eliminated, making the sound more dynamic.
The Yamaha NS-5000 enclosure is precision-made from laminated birch plywood from white birch trees grown on the island of Hokkaido, Japan. The front panel of the speaker is 28mm thick, while the rest is 19mm thick. The internal volume of the speaker system is 65 liters, which is optimal for a 12-inch woofer. The enclosure has internal bracing to eliminate wall vibrations, and a special phase inverter shape eliminates noise and distortion. The luxurious black lacquer finish emphasizes the high status of this model.
The Yamaha NS-5000 speakers feature a high-quality crossover network using audiophile-grade components, and its installation is designed to minimize phase distortion. The speaker system can be complemented with special floor-standing stands.
