The preamplifier was designed from scratch and its design meets the most modern requirements. The control knobs and switches have an original design and a pleasant working stroke, and their location on the front panel is very well thought out. Yamaha C-5000 has an anti-resonance chassis. The massive metal body rests on custom-made durable brass legs. They have the damping characteristics of spikes and at the same time are completely safe for the most delicate surfaces.
The Yamaha C-5000 is built entirely with discrete components in the audio signal transmission circuits, which undergo rigorous pre-selection. The preamplifier circuit uses a patented floating ground circuit, which virtually eliminates background noise and expands the dynamic range of the sound.
The printed circuit boards of both channels are mirror images of each other to make the mono signal paths identical. Thanks to this, the stereo image formed by the Yamaha C-5000 turned out to be as wide and balanced as possible, with a natural arrangement of images. The preamplifier has balanced and unbalanced inputs and outputs, and is also equipped with a high-quality phono preamplifier for MM and MC pickups. All signal adjustments in the preamplifier can be disabled. A very useful addition to this model is the built-in headphone amplifier.
The Yamaha C-5000 features a true full dual mono configuration with separate toroidal transformers for each channel. Each transformer is housed in a robust copper shield to protect against interference. To achieve the most accurate signal transfer, the Yamaha C-5000 preamplifier uses printed circuit boards with an increased cross-section of the conductive layer, as well as large-diameter internal power wires.
