Tube phono preamplifier for connecting a turntable to the line input of an amplifier. It has a low noise level and is suitable for MM and MC cartridges. An external power source is used to reduce interference.
Features:
- Frequency range: 10 Hz - 20 kHz +/- 0.5 dB
- Signal-to-noise ratio, dB: MM: > 81 dB, MC: > 69 dB
- Total harmonic distortion: < 0.05%
- Input sensitivity: MM: 58 mV, MC: 6.8 m
With the dip switches on the bottom of the device, it is now possible to make precise adjustments to the phono preamplifier for a specific cartridge (impedance and capacitance). At first glance, this improvement may seem small but is definitely noticeable in the sound. Switching between MM and MC cartridge types is done on the rear panel of the device. The Vincent PHO-701 also features a USB output, allowing any turntable to be connected to a computer through the PHO-701 phono preamplifier for digitizing records.
Like its predecessor, the PHO-701 model comes with an external power supply. The power supply circuitry is designed and implemented very carefully to avoid parasitic interference and power the device with "clean current." The phono preamplifier itself is housed in a similarly sized external box. The circuitry uses a 12AU7 tube, which acts as a dual triode, defining the main sound characteristics. The careful selection of other components also contributes to a clean signal with extremely low noise levels.
