After the great success and numerous positive reviews, the studio "reissued" Stockfisch DMM-DUBPLATE Vol.2 with a new selection of five Stockfisch recordings. Frank Doris, an audio expert from the USA, wrote a review and feedback on his experience with DMM Stockfisch-DUBPLATE Vol.1, published on www.fidelity-magazine.com:
"At first, I thought I had forgotten to turn on my player. I couldn't hear anything but silence - no groove, no pre-echo, nothing. But no, my system was working; it's just that the surface of this copper-covered disc was amazingly quiet. I moved the tonearm deeper into the record... I was amazed by what I heard. There's an intimacy and immediacy in the sound that is truly remarkable, and any experienced music lover will hear it within about five seconds.
... besides the astonishing absence of noise, what struck me the most was the increased palpability of the vocals and instruments, the weight and palpability of the sound. Everything sounds incredibly real, more authentic, more convincing. I'm glad that Stockfisch made this, attempting to achieve better sound quality, a bold attempt that sometimes makes the pursuit of high-quality sound so thrilling."
A new way to bring vinyl fans even closer to the original recording is a steel disc with a copper coating. Typically, this process is used to create a 14-inch DMM-Master, which is sent to pressing plants for vinyl record production.
The size of the DMM Dubplate is approximately the same as a 12-inch vinyl record. This allows it to be played on any turntable, helping to avoid loss of sound quality caused by additional stages of vinyl production, such as electroplating and vinyl pressing.
The DMM Dubplate helps avoid issues like pre-echo and crackling. High-purity phosphor-bronze has very low noise levels in the grooves, and clicks are rare.
Only one side of the disc can be recorded, as the back side is not coated with copper. The tonearm pressure can be left as is.
It is not recommended to clean the DMM-Dubplate in a record cleaning machine, as this may cause a chemical reaction on the copper surface. Unlike vinyl records, the copper groove is not prone to mechanical wear and electrostatic discharge. After playing the DMM dubbing, it should be placed back in a plastic sleeve along with a white protective film to prevent oxidation.
