Description

Mentor V3+ - these are in-ear headphones with twelve balanced armatures. The carbon fiber finish and corrosion-resistant titanium/gold tubing system make it a reliable product that should last a lifetime. This is an excellent option for audiophiles for whom sound quality is of paramount importance.

Features:

  • 12 drivers: 4 low-frequency, 2 mid-range, 2 mid-high, and 2 high-frequency
  • Carbon fiber housing
  • 4-way passive crossover
  • 8-conductor silver-plated copper cable

Balanced armatures for exceptional detail and clarity

Mentor V3+ is equipped with twelve balanced armature drivers per monitor. Unlike traditional in-ear headphones that use a single dynamic driver, balanced armatures are smaller, lighter, and provide higher performance with less power.

Inside each driver, there is a small diaphragm situated between two magnets (hence the term "balanced"). The magnets oscillate the diaphragm, and its movements are transferred onto the diaphragm. By assigning different frequency ranges to different balanced armatures, Mentor V3+ is able to achieve more detailed and precise response.

Natural isolation

Since the ear tips of in-ear headphones fill your ear canal, they naturally isolate you from noise. Not as powerful as headphones with active noise-canceling, but much better than open-back headphones. This is a great choice for commuting, traveling, and other situations where privacy is important.

The housing material used is carbon fiber. Carbon fiber has a tensile strength 10 times stronger than steel and is more reliable than acrylic, which is more fragile. Carbon fiber is less prone to expansion when exposed to heat, more resistant to corrosion, and provides better insulation against electrostatic interference.

Characteristics

Characteristics

Earpads material

The material of earpads affects both your comfort and the sound. It can be leather, eco-leather, velour, fabric/microfiber and foam rubber.

Glossary of terms
silicone
Headphone type

Over-Ear (cover the ear completely), on-ear (pressed against the ear), in-ear (inserted into the ear canal) or earbuds (inserted into the auricle, but not inserted into the ear canal).

Glossary of terms
wired
Kind of headphones
in-ear

A type of headphones that are inserted into the ear canal and can provide both partial and complete noise isolation.

Словарь терминов
Cable length, m

The length should allow you to lay the cable with a small margin. The longer the cable, the more impact it can have on the sound.

Connector shape

Connectors
3.5mm jack
Detachable cable

The opportunity to disconnect the standard headphone cable makes it possible to experiment with different wires.

Glossary of terms

Driver type

Most of the headphones are dynamic but there are electrostatic, isodynamic, etc.

Glossary of terms
armature

The drivers use a metal U-shaped "anchor", one side of which is fixed, and the other, with a wound sound coil, is precisely centered in the gap of the field created by permanent magnets.

Словарь терминов
Headphone sensitivity, dB

More sensitive headphones will play louder than headphones with less sensitivity (with the same signal level and resistance)

Glossary of terms
113
Impedance, Ohms

No higher than 32 Ohms for smartphone headphones. When using a good player or amplifier, it can be up to 100 Ohms. For stationary models you should coordinate the impedance with the amplifier power

Glossary of terms

Material
carbon
Number of drivers

The number of drivers in each headphone. However, quantity does not equal quality. Driver coordination, their configuration, correct crossover, sound bores affects the sound

Glossary of terms
12
The highest frequency, kHz

The upper limit of the frequencies reproduced by the device. The human ear hears the standard frequency range: 20 Hz – 20000 Hz.

Glossary of terms
30
The lowest frequency, Hz
20
Type of acoustic design

Open (with no insulation) or closed (passive noise insulation) or semi-open (intermediate version). Open headphones sound more airy and provide a wide stage, closed ones provide noise isolation and amplify low frequencies.
