Description

1973 - a professional, yet affordable condenser microphone with a large diaphragm, handcrafted capsule, and world-class build quality. Like other microphones from the SOYUZ family, the 1973 is not a copy or clone of vintage models, but a classic format in a modern execution. Everything is done in a traditional way: in-house production facilities, meticulous attention to detail, and no compromises on processes.

Made with Love

Remember the times when true craftsmanship was valued? When everything was made by hand, and the product went from idea to finished product in one place by a team with a common dream. The developers at SOYUZ miss those times too, and that's why they manufacture microphones this way. From a business perspective, it's less efficient than outsourcing production to a third party. But the result! It's worth it.

Microphone for Generations

SOYUZ microphones are expensive and worth every penny. But until now, they have been out of reach for many. That's why the company set out to design and build "SOYUZ", which could be sold at an affordable price. A people's microphone. SOYUZ engineers optimized where they could. They included only the essentials and managed to create a more affordable microphone that you can truly be proud of. SOYUZ proudly presents to you the "Soyuz 1973".

Capsule

The 1973 microphone is equipped with the S23 capsule - SOYUZ's own development with an interesting history of creation. In the early 1970s, at the LOMO plant, they modified the popular Austrian capsule AKG CK12, adding three electrodes to improve sound stability. In 2015, SOYUZ designers reworked the capsule for the 023 Bomblet series, and now further adapted it for the 1973 series.

Resonator

Next to the capsule in the microphone is a resonator that minimizes unwanted reflections and adds protection against wind noise. This makes the 1973 extremely convenient for recording vocals and speech in podcasts and vlogs.

Attenuator

The microphone has a built-in attenuator with two operating modes: -10 dB and -20 dB for recording loud and very loud sources.

Design

The compact form factor of the 1973 makes it an ideal tool for recording in hard-to-reach places. Simple, sturdy, and reliable - this microphone will serve you for many years.

Features:

  • inspired by the golden age of transistor microphones; - classic 023 Bomblet capsule; - new elegant housing design; - capsule: two 33mm diaphragms (one with gold plating); - Pad: -10 dB / -20 dB.

Impedance, Ohms

No higher than 32 Ohms for smartphone headphones. When using a good player or amplifier, it can be up to 100 Ohms. For stationary models you should coordinate the impedance with the amplifier power

Microphone polar pattern

Omnidirectional, cardioid and supercardioid. It determines the sensitivity of the microphone to sound relative to the direction or angle, i.e. shows how well the microphone "hears" sound from different sides

Glossary of terms
cardioid

The polar pattern of the microphone that picks up the sound in front of it.

Словарь терминов
Microphone type
condenser

A metal membrane consisting of plates (a condenser) oscillates under the influence of sound air flows converting a sound wave into an electromagnetic one.

Necessary for condenser microphones

Glossary of terms
yes

Simultaneous transmission of DC power and information signals over one wire.
