Tube vs fet
The 017 Series offers a choice of 2 circuit designs - tube and transistor (FET). Both models use the same capsule, have a unified form factor, and provide a similar sound. But despite their similarity, there are significant differences. The 017 FET - microphone with a field-effect transistor-based circuit captures transients faster and sounds drier and more collected, while the tube microphone 017 TUBE, with a softer and smoother top end, is ideal for situations where warm sound and distinctive color are required.
Innovations and traditions
Engineers at the SOYUZ company have honed their skills for years studying, developing, and servicing classics. They have put all their knowledge into creating the capsule for the 017 series. S17 - a special capsule with a clear and open top end, a soft and elegant midrange, and a rich yet balanced low end. Based on the classic K67 capsule developed in 1960, the S17 capsule uses a 34 mm membrane with gold coating that is specially stretched and tuned by hand. In combination with the original circuitry, this capsule is like no other.
Handcrafted
Like all SOYUZ microphones, the 017 series is entirely handmade. The signature "Soyuz" transformer, 6J1P tube, handcrafted and tuned capsule together create a rich and full sound across the entire frequency range with an open and natural top end. Handcrafted capsules allow these microphones to capture the finest details, the full depth, and warmth of sound.
