Tube vs FET
The 017 series offers a choice between 2 circuit designs - tube and transistor (FET). Both models use the same capsule, have a unified form factor, and produce a similar sound. But despite their similarity, there are significant differences. The 017 FET - microphone with a field-effect transistor-based circuit catches transients faster and sounds dryer and more collected, while the tube microphone 017 TUBE, offering a softer and smoother top end, is ideal for situations where warm sound and characteristic color are required.
Innovation and tradition
Engineers at SOYUZ have honed their skills for years studying, developing, and servicing classics. They put all their knowledge into creating capsules for the 017 series. The S17 capsule is a special capsule with an honest and open top end, smooth and graceful midrange, and rich yet balanced low end. Based on the classic K67 capsule developed in 1960, the S17 capsule uses a 34mm gold-sputtered membrane that is stretched and tuned by hand in a special way. In combination with the original circuit design, this capsule is like nothing else.
Handcrafted
Like all SOYUZ microphones, the 017 series is completely handcrafted. From the casing parts to the capsules - everything is done in-house in Tula.
