The fourth studio album by American rock band Soundgarden, released in 1994, is the band's second album with bassist Ben Shepherd. The album featured a different sound from the band's earlier work. Soundgarden began working on the album after touring in support of their previous album, 1991's Badmotorfinger. The album was a commercial success and became the band's breakthrough. It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and charted highly worldwide.
The American rock band Soundgarden from Seattle was founded in 1984. Although the band chose grunge as their main direction, they often turned to other directions - from alternative metal to hard rock.
Along with Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Alice in Chains, Soundgarden is one of the "big four" - the most successful grunge bands. The band has six studio albums and one live album, as well as two Grammy Awards.
