Revival of a Legend

In 1991, Sennheiser created the world's best headphones and named them Orpheus. Over twenty years later, they have done it again. The uncompromising philosophy of the original remains in the new Sennheiser HE 1. Otherworldly sound and timeless beauty. Perfect mechanics and cutting-edge technology. These headphones breathe something into music that makes it come alive.

Beauty with lofty goals

The striking design of the Sennheiser HE 1 combines form with functionality. The amplifier, suspended freely, is housed inside a glass body and a solid block of Carrara marble. This luxurious stone, extracted from the quarries of Carrara in Italy, was used by Michelangelo to create his famous sculptures during the Renaissance. Marble is not only beautiful but also reliably protects against contact noise. The power and volume control knobs are precision-machined from a solid piece of brass and chrome-plated. Music has become an art object.

Immersing yourself in music

You have never seen such beauty in headphones before. But this is just the beginning. Watch as the Sennheiser HE 1 gradually comes to life with a touch - the lamps and controls emerge from the body; after a short pause, the amplifier lamps reach the optimum temperature.

Then put on your headphones and immerse yourself in pure sound. Places where you have never been before. Places hidden in your music. On vinyl. On compact discs. In high-resolution files. The Sennheiser HE 1 will take you there. With a sound range from 8 Hz to over 80 kHz and the lowest level of distortion ever measured in an audio system: 0.01% at 1 kHz, 100 dB SPL.

Precious metals

The result of constant striving for perfection is uniqueness. The Sennheiser HE 1 is the first electrostatic headphones with an integrated high-voltage amplifier of the Cool A class using MOS-FET transistors. The cable with exceptionally low reactive resistance ensures the transmission quality of pulse signals 200% more efficiently than any other solution on the market.

Outstanding acoustic characteristics are achieved through a 2.4µm-thick diaphragm with platinum coating and a pair of gold-plated ceramic electrodes, while optimal electrical conductivity is ensured by a cable made of oxygen-free copper with conductors coated in 99.9% silver. The Sennheiser HE 1 headphone cups are made from a solid aluminum block using high-precision milling. The handmade combined ear cushions are crafted from high-quality, ultra-thin leather and hypoallergenic velour microfiber, providing comfortable enjoyment of all the engineers' efforts.

No compromises, just benefits

The Sennheiser HE 1 (patent pending) innovative technology incorporates all the advantages of tube and transistor amplifiers. Vacuum tubes are secured on an anti-vibration housing made of granulated marble to eliminate any impact from contact noise, and the tubes are enclosed in high-quality quartz glass caps that perfectly isolate them from the surrounding environment. This guarantees extremely precise processing of the impulse signal with minimal distortion.

Digital audio sources, including high-resolution PCM and DSD formats, can be connected through S/PDIF (optical and coaxial) or USB ports. The incoming digital signal is converted to analog using eight internal ESS ES9018 SABRE DACs. In each stereo channel, four DACs are connected in parallel to increase accuracy, reduce distortion, and minimize noise levels.

Characteristics

Brand
Earpads material

The material of earpads affects both your comfort and the sound. It can be leather, eco-leather, velour, fabric/microfiber and foam rubber.

Glossary of terms
leather, microfiber
Headphone type

Over-Ear (cover the ear completely), on-ear (pressed against the ear), in-ear (inserted into the ear canal) or earbuds (inserted into the auricle, but not inserted into the ear canal).

Glossary of terms
wired
Kind of headphones
over-ear

The type of headphones that cover the ears and can provide complete noise isolation.

Словарь терминов
Balanced cable

A cable for a balanced (symmetrical) connection allows you to neutralize the negative impact of cable length on signal transmission, and also has a beneficial effect on the final sound.

Glossary of terms
yes
Cable length, m

The length should allow you to lay the cable with a small margin. The longer the cable, the more impact it can have on the sound.

Glossary of terms
3
Color
Color shade
silver, black
Connectors
jack 6.3
Detachable cable

The opportunity to disconnect the standard headphone cable makes it possible to experiment with different wires.

Glossary of terms
yes
Driver type

Most of the headphones are dynamic but there are electrostatic, isodynamic, etc.

Glossary of terms
electrostatic

The thinnest membrane (usually mylar) charged from a high-voltage power supply, which is hung up between two grid electrodes to which an audible signal is applied.

Словарь терминов
Headphone sensitivity, dB

More sensitive headphones will play louder than headphones with less sensitivity (with the same signal level and resistance)

Glossary of terms
114
Material
leather, metal, marble, aluminum
Number of drivers

The number of drivers in each headphone. However, quantity does not equal quality. Driver coordination, their configuration, correct crossover, sound bores affects the sound

Glossary of terms
1
The highest frequency, kHz

The upper limit of the frequencies reproduced by the device. The human ear hears the standard frequency range: 20 Hz – 20000 Hz.

Glossary of terms
80
The lowest frequency, Hz
8
Type of acoustic design

Open (with no insulation) or closed (passive noise insulation) or semi-open (intermediate version). Open headphones sound more airy and provide a wide stage, closed ones provide noise isolation and amplify low frequencies.
