Rihanna is an American R&B and pop singer and actress of Barbadian descent. Born on February 20, 1988, she moved to the United States at the age of 16 to pursue a singing career. She later signed with Def Jam Recordings and released her debut album, Music of the Sun, in 2005. Rihanna is one of the best-selling female artists of all time, with sales of over 20 million albums and 100 million singles. She is the youngest artist in Billboard history to have topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart fourteen times. Rihanna has won eight Grammy Awards, twelve American Music Awards, twelve Billboard Music Awards, two Brit Awards, a special Icon Award, and has even been recognized as a "fashion icon" by the Council of Fashion Designers of America. She is also an official honorary cultural ambassador for Barbados.
