The Pro-Ject RPM 3 Carbon turntable is unique thanks to its 10-inch S-shaped tonearm, which is made from a combination of carbon fiber, aluminum, and a special resin using a complex three-stage process. The tonearm tube undergoes a high-temperature and high-pressure hardening process to eliminate internal stresses and resonances, resulting in exceptional damping properties. This allows it to accommodate both MM and MC cartridges, which are more sensitive to external vibrations.
The turntable has a slim chassis that houses the tonearm and an inverted bearing for the platter. The bearing uses a ceramic ball for maximum stability, and the entire structure is carefully balanced. The AC motor is powered by a 15V precision generator connected to a DC power source, which ensures low levels of interference and vibration while maintaining a stable rotation speed. The turntable platter is made of balanced MDF and comes with a vinyl mat, and it is driven by a belt that can be switched between 33 and 45 RPM by adjusting its position on the motor pulley.
To further reduce vibrations, the Pro-Ject RPM 3 Carbon includes adjustable magnetic anti-skating and a TPE counterweight, both of which contribute to the smooth operation of the tonearm and cartridge.
