The Pro-Ject Pick It 25A cartridge with a moving magnet was released to celebrate Pro-Ject's 25th anniversary. The model was developed in collaboration with renowned cartridge manufacturer Ortofon. The popular MM cartridge Ortofon OM10 was used as the basic prototype, which was then upgraded by using special coils in the converter, where silver wire was used instead of the usual copper conductors for winding. As a result, according to the manufacturer, a clearer, more detailed, transparent, and dynamic sound was achieved.
The Pro-Ject Pick It 25A model features a distinctive blue color and the recognizable Ortofon design. The cartridge body is made of high-quality material that combines Noryl polymer and glass, which ensures high strength, rigidity, and minimizes unwanted parasitic resonances. The diamond needle, attached to a lightweight rigid holder, has a classic elliptical profile and ensures accurate tracking of the vinyl record groove. The front part of the Pro-Ject Pick It 25A cartridge, including the needle holder, is removable. Thanks to this technical solution, it is possible to quickly replace a worn-out needle.
The cartridge boasts a sufficiently high output voltage of 5.5 mV. Such a high output contributes to an excellent combination with virtually any modern phono preamp, whose nominal input impedance is 47 kOhm (standard). The weight of the cartridge does not exceed five grams. Therefore, this cartridge is suitable for installation in tonearms with low or medium mass. The Pro-Ject Pick It 25A requires a tracking force of 1.5 g. The model has a sufficiently wide frequency range and provides a good channel separation performance.
