The Debut series players first appeared in Pro-Ject's catalog in 1998. Despite having already released various turntable models, Pro-Ject deliberately named it "Debut" to emphasize that it was the perfect choice for vinyl music enthusiasts who were new to playing records and wanted to purchase their first high-quality player.
During the nearly 20 years since, the Pro-Ject Debut series players have undergone several improvements and have become the top-selling models in their class. Now, the company has decided to release the fully upgraded Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO. They have enhanced all the key elements and made adjustments based on feedback from previous owners of these turntables.
The Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO turntable features a sturdy and heavy MDF chassis, available in nine finishes to cater to customer preferences. In addition to glossy options, matte finishes have also been introduced. The Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO also comes with three height-adjustable metal feet, making it easier to level the turntable on any surface. Another significant addition is the electronic speed control for the rotating record (33/45 RPM), which was lacking in previous models. The corresponding button is discreetly located on the bottom side of the chassis to maintain the turntable's sleek design.
A notable upgrade in the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO model is the use of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) for construction dampening. This material is applied to the inner side of the platter, eliminating unwanted resonances and increasing its mass.
