The Debut series of turntables first appeared in the Pro-Ject catalog in 1998. Although Pro-Ject had already released various models of turntables before, the name for the new product was chosen deliberately. It emphasized the fact that the Debut turntable was the optimal choice for music lovers who were beginning to take an interest in listening to vinyl records and wanted to acquire their first Hi-Fi turntable.
Over the past almost 20 years, Pro-Ject Debut series turntables have undergone several upgrades and are now the best-selling model in their class. And now the company has decided to release the completely updated Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO. All key elements have been improved, and enhancements have been made based on the feedback from owners of these turntables from previous years.
The heavy and durable MDF chassis of the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO turntable can have one of nine different finishes, chosen according to customer preferences. Now, in addition to glossy finishes, matte finishes are also available. Furthermore, the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO is equipped with three height-adjustable metal feet, making it easier to level the turntable on any surface. Another important addition to the new model is the electronic speed switch for record rotation (33/45 rpm), which was not present in all models of the series before. The corresponding button was decided to be mounted on the underside of the chassis to maintain the turntable's sleek design.
A significant upgrade in the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO model is the damping of its structure using thermoplastic elastomer (TPE). In particular, this material has been applied to the inner side of the support disc, eliminating unwanted resonances and increasing its mass.
