The Pro-Ject Debut Carbon SB DC Esprit vinyl record player is a further development of the famous Debut model, which once became a symbol of the return of this class of technology to the mass market. The new turntable is also offered at a very affordable price, however, significant changes have been made to its design to improve sound quality. The player chassis, made of MDF, is available in black, red, or white lacquer finishes.
The standout feature of the new model is the carbon fiber tonearm, impregnated with a special resin - the use of such high-quality devices in entry-level turntables is a rare occurrence. In addition, the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon SB DC Esprit features a larger diameter and weight support disc, which has positively affected the smoothness of the disc rotation and the reduction of overall vibrations. The main disc is made of acrylic and is installed on a sub-platter, which is connected to the AC motor by an elastic belt, mechanically isolated from the chassis by sorbothane pads. The motor is connected to a generator, which in turn operates from a DC power source - this solution has made the rotation speed more stable.
The tonearm of the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon SB DC Esprit is equipped with a damped lift and a counterweight anti-skate mechanism. The turntable provides three speeds, with electronic switching between 33 and 45 rotations per minute, while the transition to 78 rotations requires manually moving the drive belt to another roller on the motor pulley. In this case, a special 2M78 cartridge, designed for working with such records, needs to be installed on the tonearm.
The device comes with a high-quality MM cartridge - Ortofon 2M Red, a dust cover, and a center adapter for 45 rotations records. The output of the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon SB DC Esprit is designed as a pair of RCA connectors, so any cable of the user's choice can be used to connect the turntable to a phono preamp.
