The Pro-Ject Debut Carbon SB DC Esprit vinyl record player is a further development of the famous Debut model, which at one time became a symbol of the return of this class of technology to the mass market. The new turntable is also offered at a very affordable price, but significant changes have been made to its design, allowing for improved sound quality. The player's chassis, made of MDF, can have a glossy finish in black, red, or white.
First and foremost, the new model features a tonearm made of carbon fiber impregnated with a special resin - the use of such high-class devices in entry-level players is very rare. In addition, the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon SB DC Esprit uses a larger and heavier support disc, which has had a positive effect on the smoothness of the disc rotation and the overall level of vibrations. The main disc is made of acrylic and is mounted on a sub-disc, which is connected to the alternating current motor via an elastic belt, mechanically isolated from the chassis using sorbothane pads. The motor is connected to a generator, which in turn runs on a direct current power source - this solution has made the rotation speed more stable.
The tonearm and Pro-Ject Debut Carbon SB DC Esprit are equipped with a damped micro lift and a weighted anti-skate. The player provides three speeds for the disc, with the switch between 33 and 45 revolutions per minute being electronic, and manually switching to 78 revolutions requires moving the drive belt to another roller on the engine pulley. In addition, in this case, a special 2M78 cartridge, designed for use with such records, will need to be installed on the tonearm.
The device comes with a high-quality MM cartridge, the Ortofon 2M Red, a dust cover, and a central adapter for 45 rpm records. The output of the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon SB DC Esprit is in the form of a pair of RCA connectors, so any user can use their choice of cable to connect the turntable to a phono preamp.
