DM36 is a completely new and meticulously designed digital-to-analog converter (DAC), utilizing the ESS ES9068A chipset with resolutions up to PCM 384 and DSD 256, significantly improving overall performance compared to its predecessor DM35, providing a more detailed and realistic sound with more precise three-dimensionality in a wider soundstage. DM36 replaces the previous DAC DM35 in our modular models, resulting in the new model name incorporating the new DAC module, as indicated below:

Inputs include 4 optical Toslink and 2 coaxial RCA for resolutions up to 192 kHz/24 bit, as well as 1 USB B input for connection to a computer with resolutions up to 384 kHz/32 bit and DSD256 (11.2 MHz). The coaxial RCA output provides a dedicated output for digital inputs and selectable output at 48 or 96 kHz for analog inputs. A new feature found in DM36 is the PCM upsampling option, which when enabled, allows increasing the sampling rate of 16/44.1 and 24/48 kHz signals to 24/88.2 kHz and 24/96 kHz respectively to enhance internal digital conversion and digital output, noting that 24/96 kHz and 24/192 kHz files will not upsample regardless of the setting.
Additionally, DM36 provides full MQA processing with Prisma sources and Primare CD. MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) is an award-winning British technology that delivers the sound of the original master recording. A MQA Master file is fully authenticated and small enough for streaming or downloading. With the appropriate Prisma application update embedding both Qobuz and Tidal, the above-mentioned Prisma models with the DM36 module will allow for full MQA unfold up to 384 kHz when playing Tidal Master files.
Please note that for all other Prisma models, including those using the DAC DM35 module, the update will enable the first full MQA unfold up to resolutions of 96 kHz, Qobuz resolution up to 192 kHz, and seamless playback for both platforms. In our CD players and transports, MQA CD playback is supported with CD15 Prisma DD15, CD35 Prisma, and DD35 when using optical Toslink or coaxial RCA digital output connection with DM36. The Prisma module requires DM36 or DM35 for use.
