This speaker is capable of delivering true Hi-Fi sound, thanks to its high-quality drivers. The Klippel technology was used in their development to optimize the driver's performance and ensure efficient operation at any volume level, according to Polk Audio. Handling the high-frequency spectrum is a silk dome tweeter with a viscous composite material, providing natural and detailed high-frequency delivery. The tweeter is built into a special swivel module, allowing it to be precisely directed towards the listener.
The mid and high frequencies are handled by an eight-inch driver with a lightweight polypropylene cone, guaranteeing precise and natural sound with clean midrange and well-defined bass. The proprietary Dynamic Balance technology was used in the development of this driver, based on laser methods for controlling the driver membrane's movement. This technology helps achieve the most optimal combination of materials and construction details, minimizing unwanted resonances in the driver's cone.
The Sheer-Grille, a proprietary metal grille, deserves special attention. It is conveniently attached using magnets to the Polk Audio V85 and has a low profile, barely protruding from the mounting surface. It can be painted to match the room's color scheme, making this model practically invisible. The grille's perforated structure has minimal hole sizes, making it acoustically transparent and having minimal impact on sound quality.
Installing the Polk Audio V85 model is quick and easy with the use of a convenient template and the patented Rotating Cam spring mounting system, which helps eliminate vibrations. Two spring-loaded gold-plated terminals are used for connecting speaker cables. A fire-resistant enclosure is also available as an option for this speaker.
