The Polk Audio VS 265-LS is a three-way in-wall speaker that is part of the Vanishing series (the word "vanish" means to disappear in English), hinting that when properly mounted, models from this line remain completely hidden from the listener's view.
To "camouflage" the speaker, there is an ultra-thin acoustically transparent Sheer-Grille with magnetic attachment. This grille is a metal rectangular grid with very fine perforations, only seven millimeters thick. The grille can be painted to match the surrounding interior decor.
The drivers of the speaker are tonally matched with the top-of-the-line LSiM series, allowing the Polk Audio VS 265-LS to pair seamlessly with those speakers in various configurations.
This speaker features three drivers arranged in a D'Appolito configuration. At its center, there is a tweeter with a phase aligner and ring radiator for realistic and detailed sound. The tweeter is integrated into a special rotating module that allows precise direction towards the listening area.
On the upper part of the facade, a 6.5-inch midrange driver with a lightweight rigid diaphragm is installed. It is made of a specialized foamed polypropylene with large cells. At the bottom, there is a woofer of similar size and material, distinguished by a larger dust cap compared to the midrange driver.
To minimize turbulence of the airflow and ensure clean, fast, and deep bass, the speaker includes an oval PowerPort phase inverter port with a diffuser. A plug is provided to insert in the port if a reduction in low frequencies is needed.
The Polk Audio VS 265-LS model comes with two filters, activated by buttons on the front panel. The right button activates a notch filter that eliminates ringing, compensating for room surfaces' reflection influence on high frequency quality. The second filter helps eliminate bass boom that may occur when the speaker is placed close to the ceiling, corners, or room walls.
This in-wall speaker can be used as a front channel speaker or as part of a home theater system. Installation is quick and easy due to the included template and Rotating Cam spring mounting system that reduces vibrations. A proprietary mounting bracket is available as an option.
