PMC is renowned for its mastery of immersive audio. With a history of mixing in their own studios in London, LA, and Nashville, and with many of Hollywood’s most iconic soundtracks and films created using PMC loudspeakers, the company has an unparalleled understanding of what is required for the perfect multichannel experience. This expertise is embedded in the design of the Prophecy C.
Like all speakers in the Prophecy range, the Prophecy C incorporates a bespoke Advanced Transmission Line bass loading system, refined to make it an exceptional full-range speaker on its own. The unique design positions the two mid/bass drivers at different points along the long-folded transmission line, effectively reducing coloration in the critical vocal range, which is essential for clear dialogue, while improving integration with the treble driver. Additionally, the front-venting LaminairX technology allows for flexible placement near walls without sacrificing performance.

PMC’s speakers are more than just audio equipment - they are the tools that bring music and movies to life. The Prophecy C enables listeners to immerse themselves fully in the drama of a film or the richness of multichannel music.
The hallmark of PMC’s renowned, natural sound lies in its Advanced Transmission Line (ATL) bass-loading technology, a system that has been professionally tested and trusted globally. For a deeper understanding of how it works, explore more from the tech lab at PMC.
A transmission line speaker design positions the drive unit at the end of a long, highly-damped tunnel that absorbs unwanted mid and high-frequency energy emitted from the rear of the driver. Meanwhile, it allows the lowest frequencies to exit the line in perfect phase with the front-facing radiation, significantly boosting bass performance. This technology is effective across a wide bandwidth of approximately two octaves, centered around the transmission line's resonant frequency. Within this range, it tightly controls the movement of the drive unit, dramatically reducing distortion and enabling higher output levels.

The resonant frequency of a transmission line is determined by the acoustic length of the line, which corresponds to one-quarter of a wavelength. Achieving this balance requires careful consideration of numerous factors, from the driver’s parameters to the length, taper, profile, and foam placement within the line. Each of these variables affects the others in intricate ways, meaning they must all be optimized together for the best result.
The complexity and precision needed to perfect this design make it a challenge that only a few companies, like PMC, have mastered—explaining why PMC is one of the few to successfully develop and refine transmission line speakers.
