The Ortofon 2M-Bronze cartridge head with a moving magnet has already gained many fans worldwide. This model is part of the 2M series, which corresponds to modern trends and indicates the type of cartridges it includes (2M = MM).

The main engineer-designer of the company, Per Windfeld, contributed to the series, and its design was developed in collaboration with the reputable Danish studio Møller-Jensen Innovation and Design. The housing, with a removable semi-transparent part in a characteristic red-orange color, resembles a cut diamond, hinting at the shape of the cartridge needle profile. Engineers were inspired by this in creating such an original and elegant design. The housing is made of Lexan DMX Piano material, providing high rigidity and eliminating unwanted resonances.
The cantilever is a tubular rod made of aluminum. It holds a diamond needle with a Nude Fine Line stylus, which allows for maximum retrieval of information from the disc track, including details of the highest frequencies. This needle reduces distortions, decreases wear on vinyl grooves. A modernized transducer system is used, with copper wires coated in silver in the coils.
A special design of the output terminals helps reduce the influence of Foucault currents. The cartridge has been optimized for easy and fast installation, and the correctly chosen weight and dimensions of the 2M Bronze cartridge significantly expand the range of tonearms it can be installed on. The Ortofon 2M-Bronze has a high output voltage of 5 mV, good channel separation at 26 dB, and can reach a high-frequency range limit of 29 kHz. The weight of this MM cartridge is 7.2 g, with an optimal tracking force of 1.5 grams. It can practically work with any phono preamp with an input impedance of 47 kOhms.
Ortofon also offers the following options for this model: 2M Bronze Verso with a different mounting type and 2M Bronze PnP assembled with a branded shell. The kit includes a cleaning brush, plastic mechanical scales for measuring needle tracking force, a screwdriver, and more. The needle can be quickly replaced if necessary.
