Sounds from close distances, wind, and rapid microphone movements can all cause interference. To avoid these unwanted sounds, wind protection accessories are available. Typically, they are made of open-cell polyurethane foam. These windshields do not cause any disruptive resonances and do not affect the directional pattern.
Only in the high frequency range is the output level slightly attenuated. Wind noise reduction was measured without electrical filtering in a turbulent airflow moving at a speed of 20 km/h, generated by a silent wind machine. It provides acoustically transparent wind protection with increased efficiency.
