Network player Naim Uniti Star from the updated Uniti series is created based on the "all-in-one" principle and fully lives up to its "stellar" name. The model has huge capabilities: plays audio files from local libraries, works with external sources and streaming services, and also creates CD rips with bit-perfect accuracy in WAV and FLAC formats. This is helped by the built-in TEAC CD transport with high-speed reading. Rips can be saved on an SD card, USB storage, played, or streamed to other devices. The model features a 70-watt AB-class amplifier and a PSU with a massive toroidal transformer.
The model is equipped with a precision "digital brain" - a 40-bit SHARC DSP processor, which, using a unique "Naim" algorithm, filters, minimizes jitter, and performs digital signal upsampling. After that, the signal is converted using a Burr-Brown PCM1791 DAC. The "heart" of the player is a powerful innovative streaming platform with increased memory capacity, which works seamlessly with other Naim network devices.
Supports Airplay, UPnP, Wi-Fi with two bands, and Bluetooth with aptX-HD codec, ensuring sound quality close to high-resolution lossless formats. It has built-in support for Google's Chromecast Built-In technology, web radio, TIDAL and Spotify Connect services. Hi-Res formats can be played over the local network and from USB storage, including WAV up to 32-bit/384 kHz and DSD128. Naim Uniti Star is controlled by a bidirectional remote control. An alternative option is the Naim App, which allows for controlling a multi-room system consisting of six Naim devices. The app provides access to all sources, including local libraries and streaming services. The streamer supports working with Roon software (Roon Ready function) - an electronic interactive journal that displays all data about the home music library.
Naim Uniti Star model features an elegant industrial design appreciated by aesthetes. The body material with side cooling fins is aluminum. It has a luxurious colorful 5-inch LCD display, with a stylish top-mounted volume control ring with LED illumination - a high-precision discrete analog potentiometer controlled by a digital circuit.
It has a set of S/PDIF inputs, an HDMI input with a return channel, analog inputs, including DIN connector. There is a LAN port, a pair of USB ports for external storage, an SD card slot, and Pre Out for a subwoofer or power amplifier. An optional DAB/FM tuner installation is available.
