Carefully selected and coordinated components, a massive toroidal transformer, and PCB isolation - the ND5 XS 2 is designed in Naim's classic engineering style, with meticulous attention to detail, providing natural, engaging sound from any music source.
Technology and craftsmanship:
The streaming section of the ND5 XS 2 utilizes Naim's proprietary network card with low-voltage differential transmission of digital audio signals. Thanks to high-speed support, decoding of all HD audio formats up to 32-bit/384kHz or DSD128 is possible. The new streaming platform allows for control of the audio data stream using its own, rather than an external, DAC clock generator. Before being sent to the DAC, incoming data is resampled by the 40-bit SHARC digital signal processor with precision and then directed to the PCM1791A Burr-Brown digital-to-analog converter.
The development of the new streaming platform is one of Naim's most extensive projects. Engineers from all fields - electronics, acoustics, mechanics, manufacturing - worked for three years to create a system with a powerful future-proof architecture, supporting online services such as TIDAL and Spotify and built-in Chromecast. The new reliable platform supports dual-band Wi-Fi with the most advanced 802.11ac protocol and is optimized for maximum performance.
