The NAD C658 model is a versatile Hi-Fi device that can perform several functions at once. At its core, this device is a preamplifier equipped with a built-in DAC and BluOS streaming platform. However, the NAD C658 also has some additional features that set it apart from competitors.
The preamplifier is made from select components using proprietary design solutions and can be upgraded by installing two additional modules. In the basic configuration, the NAD C658 is equipped with two line inputs and a MM phono input, with the built-in phono preamp of the preamplifier providing high-quality sound. Balanced and unbalanced adjustable outputs can be used to connect to the amplifier, and the NAD C658 also has two subwoofer outputs.
The DAC in this model is based on a 32-bit ESS Sabre microchip and has optical and coaxial inputs. This model uses a precision digital volume control similar to the one installed in Masters Series models, allowing the length of the analog circuits in the preamplifier to be minimized. One of the interesting features of the NAD C658 is the use of an automatic sound correction system based on Dirac Live listening conditions. By using this technology, you can achieve the best integration of audio acoustics (including in 2.1 setups) so that the stereo image fills the entire listening room and the speakers do not localize in it as a sound source. The preamplifier has a built-in headphone amplifier with sufficient power to work with models of various impedances.
An important advantage of the NAD C658 is the support for the BluOS streaming technology, with connection to the network via Ethernet or Wi-Fi. The system can be controlled using the proprietary app, and the device can play music from popular online services or network devices, supporting High Resolution audio (up to 24 bit / 192 kHz), as well as the MQA and DSD formats. In addition, Bluetooth devices can be connected to the preamplifier, not only for streaming music from portable devices, but also for transmitting the signal to wireless headphones. Playback of USB storage devices with audio files is also available.
