The NAD C399 model occupies the top position in the Classic line of integrated amplifiers. The circuits feature the HybridDigital nCore hybrid digital amplification technology (Class D), previously only used in the flagship Masters Series products. As a result, it guarantees a nominal power of 180 watts per channel at 8 or 4 ohms, with a peak power rating capable of reaching 250 watts. The design based on HybridDigital nCore is known for its ability to provide a wide bandwidth, flat frequency response, fast transient characteristics, and prevent/mitigate clipping. This technology works with strong currents and allows for high stability even when paired with low-impedance speaker systems. Noise and distortion remain minimal under any conditions, including at high volume levels.
The NAD C399 features a premium-class ESS Sabre 9028 DAC (32-bit/384kHz), which ensures extremely low distortion levels, very low jitter, and excellent dynamic range.
The flagship uses the second-generation Modular Design Construction (MDC2) modular architecture, where two additional modules can be installed in the amplifier (option). For this purpose, a pair of MDC slots is provided on the rear panel of the chassis. For example, one of these slots can accommodate a module with HDMI connectors or the MDC2 BluOS-D streaming module based on the proprietary BluOS platform, which includes Wi-Fi, an Ethernet port, Apple AirPlay 2 support, Roon Ready certification, and provides access to numerous online services, including Spotify Connect and Tidal Connect. The module also allows for signal transmission from all connected sources on other BluOS-compatible devices. The BluOS Controller app is used to control the streamer, and the Dirac Live function allows for audio calibration of the speakers according to room characteristics.
The built-in Bluetooth module supports aptX HD codec and works both for receiving and transmitting, allowing you to connect Bluetooth headphones to the amplifier. For vinyl enthusiasts, there is an MM phono stage with infrasonic filter on board, and the built-in headphone amplifier has a high-precision output with low impedance, enabling the connection of high-impedance models.
The NAD C399 is equipped with a precision volume control with perfect channel balance and features low-noise circuitry. The front panel has a display, and on the rear panel, there are two line inputs with buffer amplifiers with low noise levels, an MM phono stage input, as well as optical/coaxial inputs and HDMI with ARC for TV connection. It includes Pre Out, two subwoofer outputs, RS-232 interface, IR input/output, trigger input/output, and service USB. There are 4 pairs of screw terminals for speaker connection.
