The Music Hall MMF 2.3 turntable is relatively simple in design. However, there is a lot that can be improved upon with this device. The MMF 2.3 is the most affordable and entry-level player in the lineup. It is manufactured at a factory in the Czech Republic where the well-known ProJect LP players are also produced.
The disc on the Music Hall MMF 2.2 is double-layered. The lower disc with a smaller diameter is necessary for transmitting rotation from the electric motor, while the upper disc is used for placing the vinyl record. The shaft of the lower disc is made of stainless steel and is supported by a bronze bearing. The upper disc has a felt coating to smooth out vibrations. When assembling the Music Hall MMF 2.3 turntable, the motor suspension needs to be unlocked by removing a pair of transport screws. Then, the drive belt, tonearm counterweight, and main disc are installed.
The tonearm features a gimbal suspension, an anti-skate force compensator using the thread-weight principle, and a dampened micro-lift. All adjustments involve setting the necessary tracking force and balancing the tonearm. After this, the anti-skate weight is installed. The Music Hall MMF 2.3 comes with a tonearm fitted with the Tracker cartridge head with a high-quality elliptical stylus. The tonearm height is pre-adjusted.
If you wish to change the cartridge to one with a different height, the tonearm can be adjusted for VTA using two screws at the base. The turntable comes with a template for adjusting and verifying the cartridge placement in terms of length. Additionally, an extra record clamp can be used. The Music Hall MMF 2.3 turntable should be connected to an amplifier's MM phono input. If your amplifier lacks this input, a separate phono preamp can be used. To switch speeds, the main platter needs to be removed, and the turntable belt should be moved to the section of the pulley with a larger diameter. The internal dampening in the legs of the Music Hall MMF 2.3 turntable provides protection against mechanical interference.
