An evolution of the famous Dawn Pro, the Moondrop Dawn Pro 2 balanced portable DAC headphone amplifier benefits from numerous improvements. In particular, it features two new CS32198 DAC chips and a HiFi USB interface that supports high-definition sampling rates up to PCM 32Bit 384kHz and DSD256. It also offers HiFi performance with a dynamic range of 132dB and THD of only 0.0001% for a pure listening experience. Another new feature is the ability to adjust the sound using a second-generation interactive online DSP, while keeping the same structure with two independent crystal oscillators and three independent LDO power supplies. Output is easily achieved via a 3.5mm jack or balanced 4.4mm jack with power up to 4Vrms/124mW under16 Ohms.
Moondrop Dawn Pro 2: HiFi architecture The architecture of the Moondrop Dawn 2 is similar to that of its predecessor, with two clocks and three independent LDO power supplies, but with a few new components such as a Moondrop UA01 HiFi USB interface and two Cirrus Logic CS43198 DAC/AMP chips. The result is low distortion, superior quality sound with lower power consumption.
Moondrop Dawn Pro 2: Lossless volume control
Moondrop has incorporated a 100-step, nearly lossless volume control into its Dawn Pro 2 that is completely separate from the source's volume control in order to minimize signal compression when adjusting the volume.
Moondrop Dawn Pro 2: substantial output power
Capable of outputting up to 4Vrms/124mW under a 16-ohm load, the Dawn Pro 2 focuses not only on power but also on timbre for expressive sound reproduction and the ability to drive many headphones and IEMs available on the market.
Moondrop Dawn Pro 2: Audiophile performance
In terms of performance, the Dawn Pro 2 boasts an SNR and dynamic range of 132dB, as well as a THD+N of just 0.0001% for natural sound and faithful reproduction without background noise.
Moondrop Dawn Pro 2: An app with interactive DSP
Dawn Pro 2 users can adjust the equalization of the sound through the new Moondrop app. Numerous settings are available, such as filter type, frequency cutoff, gain, and Q factor. In addition, users can share and download settings from other users and access a library of presets for certain IEMs/headphones. If you don't want to use a phone to make these adjustments, you can also use the “Moondrop Sound-Tuning Tool” web interface, which is even more complete.
