The name "Hyphn" can be interpreted as a stylized spelling of a hyphen, but in reality, Hyphn (pronounced as "High-fen") is an architectural term meaning a connecting link between two large structural elements. In this case, it is the midrange/tweeter array that connects two bass towers.
With a height of nearly 140cm and weight of almost 107kg, each Monitor Audio Hyphn speaker system is equipped with a total of eleven (!) drivers, providing a frequency range from 18Hz to 60kHz - essentially 12 octaves!
The proprietary MPD (Micro Pleated Diaphragm) third-generation tweeter is surrounded by an array of six closely spaced two-inch midrange drivers, ensuring a wide dispersion pattern with a nearly point-source emission. The crossover frequency between the tweeter and midrange array is 3.7kHz. Inside the paired Hyphn enclosures are four eight-inch woofers, positioned oppositely in pairs, and operating in the range up to 350Hz.
